ROMINA LEVIN & CLAUDIO VILLAGRA
Romina graduated with a degree in ballet and contemporary dance from the famous National Dance School Maria Ruanova in Buenos Aires. Romina’s talent and dedication led her to a rewarding dancing career path, with important engagements in the film industry, such as Homenaje, directed by Bebe Kamin, as well as in countless theatre dance productions, such as Casa de Tango, Solo Tango, La Ventana, Senor Tango, La Esquina Carlos Gardel, Tango X2 Company, Forever Tango, to name a few. For several years Romina was the partner of Miguel Angel Zotto and contributed significantly as a dancer and choreographer within the Tango X2 Company. Romina performed and taught successfully allover the world, beginning with her home in Argentina, South America, then North America and Europe.
Took his first dancing steps at a very early age. His ‘tanguero’ roots originated from the grandfather’s side, Hector Contrera and later Claudio followed icons such as Aurelio Juan, J. C Copes, Virulazo, Antonio Todaro, Pepito Avellaneda, Gloria and Eduardo Dinzel, N. Guchanduc. After dancing in distinguished places of Buenos Aires such as Casablanca, La Ventana, Michelangelo, and El Querandi, he began his international career, appearing on famous stages such as Walter Kerr and Marquis on Broadway, New York, Olimpia in Paris, Teatro Colon , Luna Parc, Teatro Astral, Teatro Cervantes in Buenos Aires, Auditorio Nacional, Teatro Bellas Artes in Mexico. He shared the stage with famous orchestras, such as Osvaldo Pugliese, Mariano Mores, Sexteto Sur, El Arranque, Sexteto Mayor, among others. Today, together with his partner, Romina Levin – one of the most prominent dancers of the tango genre – form among the most prestigious and powerful couples of Argentine tango of present time. Their artistic versatility allows them to interpret most diverse styles, from tango salon, fantasy and traditional, to the most modern and innovative.
SABRINA & RUBEN VELIZ
SABRINA & RUBEN VELIZ, Buenos Aires
Started their artistic career in the well known Ballet Brandsen in 1989, as cast members for 8 years. They made appearances with this company in the most important venues of Argentina. They toured Latin America visiting Chile, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Later, in early 1997, they began a career as a solo couple appearing in presentations with : Adrina Varela, Argentino Ledesma, Maria Volonte, El Quinteto Real, Hugo Marcel, Cuarteto Volpe, Orquesta Color Tango, Sexteto Canyengue, and Ernesto Baffa.
March 1998 through February 2001, they were cast in the Nueva Compañia Tangueros, as first dancers with which they premiered the show “Milonga Boulevard” in New York, USA, playing the lead couple. Their work received excellent reviews from critic Jack Anderson of the “New York Times”. With the same show and with “Tangueros, Cuatro Noches” and “Postales de Buenos Aires” of the same company they made several tours through the USA and Europe.
The following years continued to propel their dancing career, being offered a large variety of productions: Tango, una historia in New York, 2001, Tango x 2 in 2003 with Miguel Angel Zotto, Piazzolla Tango in 2003 and in 2004 as first lineup of dancers under the direction of Milena Plebs; Tango Emocion in 2004 directed by Mora Godoy, and much, much more.
On April 30th, 2005, they had the great honour of dancing at Queen Beatrix 25th Anniversary of Holland reign. There they performend with the orquestra Canyengue Sextet directed by Karel Craayenhof.
Their career continue to follow an impressive path, mesmerizing their audiences with virtuoso performances of impeccable technique and unique charm, in shows such as: Abrazame, Radio Latina, Tangos Corazonicos, Al Sur del Sur, etc.
In 2006 Sabrina and Ruben began accepting engagements for tango festivals and were enthusiastically received throughout the world: Spain, Turkey, France, Holland, Switzerland, Italy great Britain, Germany, USA, Mexico Taiwan, Japan, to name a few.
GISELA NATOLI & GUSTAVO ROSAS, Buenos Aires
GISELA NATOLI & GUSTAVO ROSAS
Gustavo and Gisela are a young couple who combine the traditional tango with own personal style and elements nuevo. Their dance is characterized by versatility, plasticity, elegance, sensuality and charm. Together they have participated in countless productions and toured extensively with companies, as well as giving tango dance instruction. Gustavo and Gisela are the authors of several high quality instructional DVDs which will be available for purchase from them directly during the festival: Colgadas y Volcadas I (basic-intermediate); Colgadas y Volcadas II (intermediate-advanced); Milonguero Nuevo (beginner-interm.-adv).
Is a dancer and choreographer of Argentine tango with a background in ballet and contemporary dance. She is a graduate of Taller de Danza Contemporanea del Teatro Gral. San Martin of Buenos Aires. Upon graduation she became part of the ballet group of same theatre. Later she joined the company Tangokinesis under the direction of Ana Maria Stekelman. With this company she toured extensively in South and North America. Gisela was part of the production of the film Tango Desire under the direction of Edgardo Kozarinsky. Gisela participated in numerous festivals of Argentine tango in her home country, Argentina, as well as in North America and Europe.
Dancer and choreographer. In his formative period he received influence from masters such as Gloria & Eduardo, Gavito, Raul Bravo and Gustavo Naveira, among others. Gustavo participated in the production of the movie Vientos de Cambio as well as of television series, American and Spanish. Gustavo’s career spanned over several continents: North and South America, Europe. He was part of the cast in shows such as Tango Metropolis, Tango Historias Breves, Piazzolla Tango, Tangos de la Cabala. Gustavo enjoys DJ-ing and was happy to be responsible for the music in several Buenos Aires milongas, as well as important world festivals. His specialty is playing the music from vinyl records.
ANGEL CORIA, Buenos Aires
Originally from the city of Benavidez in the province of Tigre, Angel had his first encounter with the art and dance at the early age of seven, in Benavidez’s ” Sociedad de Formento y Cultura Ricardo Guiraldes”. Angel began his professional career in 1985 when he joined the group Ballet de la Plata, the winner of the COSQUIN competition of that year. His official debut was supported by Norma Viola, the artistic director at the University of Belgrano. Later he joined Ballet Popular Argentino and the National School of Dance Maria Ruanova. Beginning with 1990 Angel worked with Ballet Nacional Argentino where he held the position of assistant director/substitute choreographer and concomitantly, he choreographed television programs. As of 1995 Angel began his international career, travelling throughout the world with dance companies such as: Mariano Mores, Jose Colangelo, Juan Carlos Copez. The production Entre Borgess y Piazolla with the company of Juan Carlos Copez was awarded with “5 ESTRELLAS DE MAR”. Angel came to be well known internationally primarily through his contribution as dancer and assistant director of choreography in the OSCAR nominated movie, Tango, directed by Carlos Saura, where he worked alongside of Mia Maestro and Juan Carlos Copez. Concomitant with his performing career, Angel Coria carried on a rewarding teaching career, offering programs in his native country’s interior, in Buenos Aires as well as internationally. As of 2003 he was part of the jury during the Metropolitan and World Tango Championships, held yearly in Buenos Aires.
